STEP 1: HOUSEHOLD

First we must learn about the people in your household.

How many people are in your household (buy and eat meals together)?

Under SNAP/Food Stamps Program rules, a household is a group of people who live, buy food and eat together. They can be related or not. If you buy and cook food separately, you can be your own SNAP household and get more food stamps even if you live with others. However, spouses who live together and children under age 22 who live with their parents must always apply together.
